- A Day in My Art Studio: Exploring the Intersection of Personal Experience and Natural Surroundings
In this first post, I am excited to introduce you to my art studio and share a glimpse into my creative process. As a Sydney artist, my work revolves around personal experiences and the natural world, bringing to light emotions that resonate deeply with viewers. Join me as I explore the themes that inspire my abstract art and contemporary pieces, where every stroke of the brush tells a story. One of the most significant influences on my art stems from the hardship my family faced during the Bosnian war in the 1990s. This experience shaped my understanding of societal constructs and fostered a strong sense of belonging within me. Through my work, I aim to merge memory and reality, creating pieces that evoke wonder and provoke thought, reflecting both personal and universal narratives. I’ll also share a video where you can watch me painting and framing one of my latest pieces, providing a glimpse into an ordinary day in my studio—a space where creativity flows freely and ideas come to life. A Glimpse into My Studio My studio is more than just a workspace; it is a sanctuary filled with colors, textures, and forms. Canvases lean against the walls, and shelves are brimming with paints and brushes all tools that help me bring my visions to life. The energy in the studio is palpable as I experiment with various techniques. Inside Zelko's art studio. Each day begins with reflection, where I consider the themes I wish to explore. For instance, I might focus on the tranquility of a sunset I recently witnessed or the chaos inspired by urban life. This daily ritual fuels my creativity and forms the basis for my artistic expression. Capturing the Moment In the video I will share, you will see me in action, painting and framing one of my latest works. This moment exemplifies my artistic practice, emphasizing the relationship between humanity and nature. Welcome to my studio! As I layer paint on the canvas, every color choice reflects a specific emotion, intended to create a profound experience for the viewer. For example, in a recent piece, vibrant greens and warm yellows were used to evoke a sense of energy, renewal, and light. This nuanced approach leads to a shared human experience within the art. The Final Touches Once the painting is complete, framing becomes essential. The frame enhances and completes the artwork. I carefully select frames that complement and resonate with the piece, ensuring harmony between art and presentation. In the video, you have seen my meticulous process of fitting the painting into the frame. This moment is rewarding and marks the transition of the artwork from my studio to a space where others can engage with it. Breath of Moss , oil on canvas by Zelko Nedic.
